TempleFront Tours and Travels

Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 6 June 2026

These terms explain how we work together when you book a trip with TempleFront Tours and Travels. We have written them in plain language because we believe both sides should understand what they are agreeing to. By reserving a spot or booking a trip, you accept these terms.

1. Who We Are

TempleFront Tours and Travels ("TempleFront", "we", "us", "our") is a Kathmandu-based travel agency operating in Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, and across the wider region through our partner network. Our office is in Thamel, Kathmandu, Nepal.

2. How Bookings Work

Our booking process has two stages:

Stage 1 — Reservation (no payment required)

When you submit an enquiry or reserve a seat on our website, you are letting us know you are interested. No payment is required at this stage. We will contact you (usually within the same day) to discuss your trip, confirm availability, and finalise the details.

Stage 2 — Confirmed Booking (deposit required)

A booking becomes confirmed when you have:

  1. 1.Agreed to the trip details and final price with us
  2. 2.Paid the deposit we agree on (typically 20–30% of the trip cost, depending on the trip)
  3. 3.Received written confirmation from us

Until both sides have completed Stage 2, the trip is not confirmed.

3. Pricing

  • Prices are quoted in US Dollars unless agreed otherwise.
  • The price you agree on at Stage 2 is the price you pay. We do not add hidden surcharges.
  • Prices may change before you confirm — based on permit fees, flight costs, fuel, or government tax adjustments. Once your booking is confirmed and deposit paid, your price is locked in for the agreed services.
  • What is included and what is excluded from each trip is listed on the relevant tour page. Read it carefully.

4. Payment

  • A deposit of 20–30% of the trip cost confirms your booking. The exact amount is agreed in writing.
  • The balance is due no later than the start of your trip in Kathmandu, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Accepted methods are discussed at the time of booking — usually bank transfer, Wise, or cash in USD or NPR. Credit card processing may incur an additional bank charge.

5. Your Responsibilities as a Traveller

By booking with us, you confirm that you:

  • Have a valid passport with at least six months remaining beyond your return date
  • Will obtain any visas required for Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet or other countries on your itinerary (we can help with the process)
  • Have appropriate travel insurance for your trip (see our Insurance Advice page)
  • Are in reasonable health and fitness for the trip you have chosen, and have honestly disclosed any medical conditions that may affect the trip
  • Will follow the instructions of your guide, especially in matters of safety, altitude, weather, and local laws
  • Will respect local culture, customs, sacred sites, and the privacy of fellow travellers
  • Will not engage in illegal activity during the trip

6. Our Responsibilities

We will:

  • Plan and run your trip as agreed
  • Provide qualified guides, licensed permits, and the services listed in your itinerary
  • Treat you fairly, honestly, and with the care we would give our own family
  • Handle problems as they come up, openly and on the ground
  • Refund what is owed to you, when it is owed, according to our cancellation policy

7. Changes to the Itinerary

Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet involve mountains, weather, and remote regions. From time to time, itineraries need to change. We reserve the right to:

  • Alter the route, accommodation, or schedule for reasons of safety, weather, altitude, permit issues, or government restrictions
  • Cancel or shorten a trip for safety reasons

In all such cases, we will explain the reason, offer alternatives where possible, and refund any costs that have not already been spent on your behalf.

8. Force Majeure (Events Outside Our Control)

We are not responsible for losses or changes caused by events outside our reasonable control, including:

  • Natural disasters (earthquakes, landslides, avalanches, floods)
  • Severe weather closing roads, trails, or airports (including Lukla flight cancellations)
  • Political unrest, strikes (bandhs), curfews, border closures
  • Government action — permit cancellations, regulatory changes, visa changes
  • Pandemics or public health restrictions
  • War, terrorism, civil emergencies
  • Acts of third parties beyond our control (airline failures, hotel closures)

In a force majeure situation, we will do our best to find alternative arrangements. Where this is not possible and the trip must be cancelled, refunds will be subject to the costs we have already paid out on your behalf (permits, flights, hotels, deposits to partners — these are usually non-refundable). We will be transparent about what can and cannot be returned.

9. Limitation of Liability

We take safety seriously and work with experienced guides, licensed operators, and verified partners. That said:

  • We act as an organiser and intermediary for many services (flights, hotels, vehicles). We are not liable for the failures or negligence of third parties — airlines, hotels, helicopter operators, government bodies — beyond our reasonable control.
  • We are not liable for personal accidents, illness, injury, or death except where caused by our own proven negligence.
  • We are not liable for loss, theft, or damage of personal belongings, money, or documents.
  • We are not liable for delays caused by weather, mechanical failure, or third-party action.
  • Our maximum liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the affected portion of the trip.

This is why travel insurance is essential. See our Insurance Advice page.

10. Photography and Media

During trips, we and your guide may take photographs and videos of the group for our records and, occasionally, for our website and social media. If you do not want your image used, please tell us in writing before the trip starts and we will respect that.

11. Conduct

We reserve the right to remove from a trip — without refund — any traveller whose behaviour endangers themselves or others, breaks Nepali law, or seriously disrupts the group. This is rare. We mention it because we owe it to the rest of the group.

12. Disputes

We hope nothing goes wrong. If something does, please raise it with us first, directly, while we still have the chance to fix it. Most issues are best solved with a conversation, not a court case.

If we cannot resolve a dispute together, these terms are governed by the laws of Nepal, and any formal proceedings will take place in the courts of Kathmandu, Nepal.
