Important Notes
- Permits: Sagarmatha National Park entry + Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality permit (arranged by TempleFront).
- Previous high-altitude trekking experience (e.g. EBC or Annapurna) strongly recommended — this route crosses three glaciated passes above 5,300 m and spends several days above 5,000 m.
- Best seasons: March–May and September–November for the most stable pass conditions.
- Comprehensive travel insurance covering trekking to 5,600 m and emergency helicopter evacuation is mandatory — please bring your policy details.
- Lukla flights are weather-dependent and can be delayed — we strongly recommend keeping 1–2 buffer days at the end of your trip.
- Money: carry enough Nepali rupees in cash from Kathmandu — Namche has the last reliable ATMs, and teahouses above it are cash-only.
Frequently Asked
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a private trek?
Yes — every TempleFront trek is guided exclusively for your group. We never combine you with other trekkers.
What is included in the price?
All required permits, a licensed English-speaking guide, porters, teahouse accommodation, and breakfast and dinner throughout. Lunches are on your own account at teahouses en route.
How experienced do I need to be?
Previous high-altitude trekking experience (e.g. Everest Base Camp or Annapurna Circuit) is strongly recommended. The Three Pass Trek involves three glaciated crossings above 5,300 m and multiple days above 5,000 m. Good fitness and altitude awareness are essential.
What are the glacier crossings like?
Cho La and Kongma La involve sections of glacier and snowfield where trekking poles and some care on your footing are needed. Our guide carries a rope and the crossings are marked. They are not technical climbs — no crampons are normally required, though conditions vary by season.
What about altitude sickness?
The Three Pass Trek spends more days above 5,000 m than the standard EBC route. Acclimatisation days at Namche and Dingboche are essential. Consult your doctor about altitude medication. Our guides are trained in altitude management.
What gear do I need?
As for EBC, plus trekking poles are near-essential for the pass crossings. A sleeping bag rated to -15°C is recommended for the highest nights. A full kit list is provided on booking.
What are the teahouses like?
Teahouses on this route are simpler than the main EBC trail above Namche. Basic twin rooms, shared toilets, and communal dining areas. Higher up, bring your own sleeping bag liner for extra warmth.
How do I confirm a booking?
Send us a WhatsApp or email enquiry. We respond same day with a detailed quote. A deposit secures your dates.
