Important Notes
- Permits: Langtang National Park entry + TIMS — arranged by TempleFront.
- Gosainkund (4,380 m) is a major Hindu pilgrimage site, especially during the Janai Purnima festival (July/August full moon).
- Best seasons: March–May and October–November. The pass crossing is not recommended in winter (heavy snow).
- Fitness: good general health and the ability to walk 5–7 hours a day on consecutive days, including one pass at 4,610 m. No technical climbing or prior trekking experience is required.
- Laurebina Pass can hold snow into spring — trekking poles are recommended and microspikes may be useful early or late in the season. Your guide will assess conditions on the day.
- Comprehensive travel insurance covering trekking to 4,600 m and emergency helicopter evacuation is mandatory — please bring your policy details, and carry enough Nepali rupees in cash, as there are no reliable ATMs once you leave Kathmandu.
Frequently Asked
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a private trek?
Yes — every TempleFront trek is guided exclusively for your group. We never combine you with other trekkers.
What is included in the price?
All required permits, a licensed English-speaking guide, porters, teahouse accommodation, and breakfast and dinner throughout. Lunches are on your own account at teahouses en route.
What is the significance of Gosainkund?
Gosainkund (4,380 m) is a sacred glacial lake believed by Hindus to have been created by Lord Shiva's trident. It is one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in Nepal — thousands of Hindu pilgrims visit during the Janai Purnima festival. Even outside festival season, the setting is hauntingly beautiful.
Is this trek suitable for non-Hindu visitors?
Absolutely. The landscapes and cultural richness of Langtang, Gosainkund, and Helambu are open to all visitors. Non-Hindu trekkers are welcome at all the lake-side shrines and Helambu Sherpa villages.
What about altitude sickness?
The trek reaches 4,610 m at Laurebina Pass. The itinerary builds altitude gradually over many days. Consult your doctor about altitude medication and report any symptoms to your guide immediately.
What gear do I need?
Sturdy trekking boots, warm layers (Laurebina Pass is very cold), waterproof shell, trekking poles, sleeping bag rated to -10°C, and sun protection. A full kit list is provided on booking.
What are the teahouses like?
Variable along this route — good quality in Langtang, basic but adequate at Laurebina Yak, Gosainkund, and the Helambu villages. Twin rooms with shared facilities.
How do I confirm a booking?
Send us a WhatsApp or email enquiry. We respond same day with a detailed quote. A deposit secures your dates.
