For Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and followers of Bon, Mount Kailash is the most sacred mountain on earth — the abode of Lord Shiva and, in many traditions, the spiritual centre of the world. This thirteen-day pilgrimage carries you from Kathmandu across the Nepal border and up onto the Tibetan plateau, to the turquoise shores of Lake Mansarovar (4,600 m) and the foot of Kailash itself. Its heart is the parikrama — a three-day, roughly 52 km circuit of the holy peak that crosses the 5,630 m Dolma-La Pass, the most demanding and revered stage of the journey. Acclimatisation days at Kyirong and Saga prepare the body for the altitude, and the rhythm is set for darshan and devotion rather than haste. TempleFront has accompanied pilgrims to Kailash for many years: we arrange the Tibet group visa and every permit, travel as a private group, and support you with an experienced guide across the high plateau.

Frequently Asked

Frequently Asked Questions

Tiger in the foliage
Is this a private tour?

Yes — every TempleFront itinerary is run exclusively for your group. We never combine you with other travellers.

Can the itinerary be customised?

Routing, hotel tier, and pace can all be adjusted. Tell us your preferences and we'll tailor the plan.

What is the kora (parikrama) of Mount Kailash?

The kora is a 52 km circumambulation of Kailash, the holiest pilgrimage in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon. It crosses the 5,630 m Dolma-La Pass and takes three days. Devout Hindus complete it on foot; horses are available for portions.

How serious is altitude sickness on this tour?

The tour reaches 5,630 m at Dolma-La Pass. Acclimatisation days are built in at Kyirung and Saga. Consult your doctor about altitude medication (e.g., Diamox) before travel and report any symptoms to your guide immediately.

How does the Tibet group visa work?

Tibet requires a special group visa arranged through an authorised agency — TempleFront handles this entirely. A minimum of 5 people is required. Submit your passport copy at least 20 days in advance; the original stays in Kathmandu for 3–4 working days during processing.

What meals are included?

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included throughout the tour as listed in the inclusions. Meals in Kathmandu cover breakfast and dinner at your hotel.

Is travel insurance required?

It is strongly recommended. Ensure your policy covers emergency helicopter evacuation at high altitude. This is a remote, high-altitude tour — standard travel insurance is often insufficient.

How do I confirm a booking?

Send us a WhatsApp or email enquiry. We respond same day with a detailed quote and Tibet permit checklist. A deposit secures your dates.
