Muktinath is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in the Himalaya — sacred to Hindus as a Mukti Kshetra, a place of liberation, and to Buddhists who know it as Chumig Gyatsa, the home of the dakinis. This gentle six-day journey reaches the temple at 3,800 m without a long trek: you drive west from Kathmandu, ride the Manakamana cable car to its hilltop temple, fly the spectacular Kali Gandaki gorge to Jomsom, and complete the final stretch by jeep. At Muktinath you take darshan and puja among the 108 sacred water spouts and the eternal flame of Jwala Mai. It is a route well suited to families and older devotees who wish to reach Muktinath comfortably, paired with the lakeside calm and mountain views of Pokhara. - Best season: March–October; the Jomsom–Muktinath road and flights operate most reliably April–October. Avoid December–February (heavy snow at altitude).
- Suitability: a comparatively easy pilgrimage with no long trekking. The short final approach to the shrine is a gentle climb of about 20 minutes (or a short pony ride), making it feasible for many older pilgrims in reasonable health — please discuss any heart or breathing conditions with your doctor first.
- Muktinath welcomes visitors of all faiths. Dress modestly and remove your shoes before entering the shrine; your guide will explain the customs of darshan and the 108 water spouts.
- Connectivity & money: mobile signal and ATMs are limited around Jomsom and Muktinath — carry cash in Nepali rupees. The temple area is cold and windy even in summer, so bring a warm layer.
- Fitness: Moderate. Muktinath is at 3,800 m — mild altitude effects are possible. The itinerary acclimatises you gradually.
- Nepal visa: available on arrival at Kathmandu airport for most nationalities. USD 30 (15 days) / USD 50 (30 days). Bring 2 passport photos and USD cash.
- Comprehensive travel insurance including emergency helicopter evacuation is strongly recommended.

Muktinath is at 3,800 m — mild effects like headache or fatigue are possible. Our itinerary acclimatises you gradually with an overnight at Jomsom (2,700 m) first. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol, and tell your guide if you feel unwell.
Do I need a Nepal visa?
Most nationalities receive a visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. USD 30 for 15 days, USD 50 for 30 days. Bring two passport photos and USD cash.
What meals are included?
Breakfast and dinner are included at your hotels throughout the tour. Lunch is on your own account at local restaurants — your guide will point out the best options en route.
Is travel insurance required?
Not mandatory but strongly recommended. Ensure your policy covers emergency helicopter evacuation, particularly given the altitude at Muktinath.
